Tyson, Alison and their two boys along with Alison’s parents Murray and Lorraine took the plunge and purchased The Central in August 2011. Tyson and Alison moved from Melbourne to enjoy country life and be closer to family after Tyson’s 15 years managing hotels such as The Provincial in Fitzroy, The Golden Gate in Port Melbourne, Geebung Polo Club and the Kealba Hotel. Alison managed pharmacies around Melbourne and then became a full time mum. They both love good food and wine and have managed to bring them together in the bistro to provide classic pub food done really well and dining experiences which are affordable and family friendly. Fresh seafood and local produce are regularly on the specials board and daily menu.
Former dairy farmers from Valencia Creek (near Maffra, Vic) Murray and Lorraine retired to Nungurner before buying the pub with Tyson and Alison. Murray has become the repair and maintenance man, pool boy and food critique. Always lending a hand around the pub and motel rooms, which is invaluable. Lorraine is a very convenient babysitter at busy times for Alison and is paid in free meals at the pub! (Thanks Mum. x)
Manager Nealo has been running the pub for 24 years on and off, a local bloke who has lived in Lakes Entrance practically his whole life. All the locals know and respect him and he always has a welcoming smile and is willing to have a chat to the tourists. You will see Nealo at the door in the bistro most Friday and Saturday nights, meeting & greeting diners and recommending the fresh seafood on the menu.
