Tyson and Alison moved from Melbourne to enjoy country life and be closer to their family after Tyson’s 15 years managing hotels such as The Provincial in Fitzroy, The Golden Gate in South Melbourne, Geebung Polo Club and the Kealba Hotel. Alison managed pharmacies around Melbourne and then became a full-time mum.
Both Tyson and Alison love good food and wine and have managed to bring them together in the bistro to provide classic pub food done really well and dining experiences which are affordable and family-friendly.
Fresh seafood and local produce are regularly on the specials board and daily menu.
Former dairy farmers from Valencia Creek (near Maffra, Vic) Murray and Lorraine retired to Nungurner before buying the pub with Tyson and Alison. Murray has become the repair and maintenance man, pool boy and food critique. Always lending a hand around the pub and motel rooms, which is invaluable. Lorraine is a very convenient babysitter at busy times for Alison and is paid for in free meals at the pub! (Thanks Mum. x)
In December 2019, our family and the town of Lakes Entrance took a big hit financially and emotionally with the bushfires which saw the town evacuated for New Years Eve and for 2 weeks following… the biggest two weeks of the year usually for our tourism reliant town and business. Our home, near Bruthen, was also under threat and we faced the fires on the 30th Dec with Murray by our sides but were one of the lucky ones where the fire didn't reach. This is a night we will never forget.
The support the town and tourists have shown since fully re-opening has helped us bounce back and we are enjoying doing what we love again!
We look forward to meeting you soon.
